Eton Triathlon, 16th May

Congratulations to Andy Hook on completing his first Tri:

"The swim was impossible and I almost drowned in the lake, we then cycled 20K into a permanent gale force wind and then finished with the run on numb feet which felt like lead jelly! But I did manage to complete it in less than my target time of 5 hours! "....sounds lovely Andy

Darlington Triathlon, 17th May

David Lloyd Triathlon, 9th May

Congratulations to Robert Main and Anna Turvey who were the winners of this years event. Well done guys

Stokesley Duathlon Sunday 22nd March

 
Well the season gets off to a start and four intrepid athletes from David Lloyd made the Journey to North Yorkshire to endure what can only be described and up and down course (not flat as Howard described!!) and a second lap blowing a strong head wind and then just when you thought it had gone on the way back in it hit in you in the face.  Some really pleasing finishes everyone taking part see our results
 

Minutes of first meeting

Introduction:
The first meeting was chaired by Ian Arnott and he thanked everyone for attending on this new and exciting development. There were introductions of everyone who was present.
 

Training Sessions

Ian indicated that David Lloyd (DL) were happy to develop new sessions wherever possible as long as they did not impact their current timetable. The sessions as follows are clearly set out for the triathlon section at David Lloyd:
Tuesdays: 7.00pm Run & 8.00pm coached swim session
Thursday: 8.00pm coached swim session & 9.00pm spinning session
It was agreed that an additional session on Sunday morning would put and everyone would meet at David Lloyd. This will be a road/ mountain bike session dependant on everyone’s suitability.
Jade from DL has also indicated that if we wish to do an additional spinning session he would look into it.
 

Membership

As this is a delicate area because of members at DL paying for the use of facilities it was suggested that they pay an additional £15 per annum to be part of the triathlete’s section. This is still under consultation and will be discussed further at the next meeting.
 

Marketing and Communications

Tony Brannon was more than happy to do this for us and develop a website for the Club. He had currently sent a template to Ian which was fine. This is now to be further developed.
Also the website will be linked to British Triathlon, Triathlon England (North East) and also Northern Pulse. This will ensure that it reaches the right audience. Further to this Jade for DL is happy to publicise the club on the TV and also any other marketing materials suitable to promote the club.
 

Events

They club will support the David Lloyd Triathlon which is run for charity and also there will be a further event in the way of an Aquathlon in September.
The event dates are as follows:
David Lloyd Triathlon 23rd May. This will consist of Male and Female race, Veterans race, Have a try race for 0-6 year olds, junior event 7-10 and also a teens race 11-15.  Jade and Ian thought this would be a useful opportunity not only to promote the club and attract new members but also develop the junior section of the club.
The costs are as follows: £10 Dl member’s adults, £15 non-members and all Juniors £5
The Aquathlon will be held in September and the date is to be confirmed.
 

Team Kit

Louise will be looking into this further and is presently in liaison with Orion sport. This will be reported back at the next meeting.
 

BTF Affiliation

The club will be affiliated to the BTF and therefore it is strongly advised that all of the members do so. This is a per annum charge and will cover all insurances for sessions etc.
